Most people are accustomed to Turmeric in its most common form, a yellowish spice added to many Indian dishes. However, when it comes to creating a really incredible tea, using Turmeric in its original root form is the way to go. This same concept goes for using ginger root, and with the two combined, you have a truly satisfying cocktail that your body will thank you for!
This drink is ideal for after a long day of strenuous activity like biking or hiking, as the herbs help with circulation and sore muscles.
½ inch peeled piece of fresh turmeric
½ inch peeled piece of fresh ginger
3 c Boiling water
1 oz lemon juice
Start with a pot of water and bring to high heat. When it starts to boil, add ginger and turmeric, and turn the heat on medium to low with lid on. Allow to simmer for around 10 minutes.
Once tea is finished, let cool entirely on stove top or set in refrigerator with lid off to cool (can take one day to an hour). For quicker cooling, pour tea in mason jars.
When you’re ready to serve your cocktail, fill a glass with ice, add 1oz of lemon juice and top with your tea.
