Dutch Oven Bacon Cabbage

This Dutch Oven Bacon Cabbage is a simplistic savory dish that will leave your family or guests asking for more! With only two main ingredients to prep it is an easy and quick side dish or appetizer to add to any dinner. Not only is it healthy, it is also Keto and Paleo approved. Our friends love this dish so much that they often request it when we invite them over for dinner. Be ready for the yummy smell of bacon to fill your kitchen making everyone drool and ready to eat at the table!


Ingredients

1 head of green cabbage

6 slices of bacon

1 tsp chili flakes

1 tbsp olive oil or bacon fat


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400*F. -place Dutch oven into the oven to preheat as well.

  2. Slice cabbage like an orange into 6 pieces.

  3. Pull out Dutch oven and add olive oil or bacon fat.

  4. Wrap each slice of cabbage with a piece of bacon, place the side with the end of the bacon down into the pan and sear. Repeat for all slices.

  5. Sprinkle your bacon wrapped cabbage with the chili flakes to spice it up!

  6. Bake for 15 minutes with the lip off.

  7. Flip cabbage over and replace the lid, bake for another 20 minutes.


Yes, it’s that easy...we had guests asking for another serving… yes of vegetables.
